Quickstart

Connect your first provider, get your first answer, and set up alerts in about 15 minutes.

This quickstart takes you from a new workspace to a working setup: one provider connected, a first question answered, one budget, and anomalies routed to Slack.

Before you begin

You need someone who can create a read-only role or grant billing read access in at least one provider. If that isn't you, OpsLyft gives you a link to send to them. See Don't have access?.

Create your workspace

Sign in at v2.opslyft.com with your work email. OpsLyft creates a workspace for your email domain, and teammates on the same domain can join without an invite.

Answer the onboarding questions

Six short questions shape your workspace: your name, your role, the providers you pay for, your first goals, where findings should reach you, and your first connection. The live preview on the right updates as you answer. The whole flow takes about nine minutes. See Onboarding.

Connect your first provider

Pick one provider to start with. Each has a guided, read-only connection:

ProviderMethodTime
AWSOne-click CloudFormation stack in your management account~3 min
AzureSign in with Microsoft, grant Cost Management Reader~4 min
Google CloudPoint OpsLyft at the BigQuery billing export~3 min
SnowflakeRun a generated SQL snippet to create a monitor user~2 min
DatabricksShare Unity Catalog system billing tables~3 min
KubernetesInstall the cost agent with Helm~5 min per cluster
OpenAIAdd an Admin usage key~1 min
AnthropicAdd an Admin usage key~1 min

OpsLyft starts analysing as soon as the first bill arrives. The others can follow later.

Ask Iris your first question

Open Observe in the sidebar to reach the Iris home page. Choose Ask a question and try one of these:

  • What are my top services across all clouds?
  • Which accounts grew fastest this month?
  • Why did spend spike on Sep 1?

Iris answers from the same warehouse as Cost Explorer and shows the numbers it used. Pin any answer to put it on a canvas. See Ask a question.

Create a budget

Go to Monitor → Budgets & alerts and select New budget. Pick a cloud, a period, an amount, and thresholds (80% and 100% are the defaults), then add an email address or a #slack-channel to notify. See Budgets & alerts.

Route findings to your team

Go to Tickets → Integrations and connect Slack and Jira. Map each team to a Jira project and turn on the auto-create rules you want, for example High-severity anomalies → ticket.

Invite your teammates

Share your workspace with the people who own spend. Anyone on your email domain can join without an invite.

Don't have access?

Setting up OpsLyft is often done by someone who doesn't own the cloud account. On the connect step, select Copy link under Don't have access? and send the link to whoever owns that provider. You get a Slack message when they finish.

Try it with sample data

Not ready to connect? Select Explore with sample data at the top of onboarding, or Use sample data instead on the connect step. Every module works on the sample estate, so you can explore before you connect anything.
