Budgets & alerts
Set a budget for any cloud, period, and scope, and alert Slack and email when cost passes a threshold.
Monitor → Budgets & alerts holds every budget. Alerts go to Slack and email when a period's cost passes a threshold.
Overview

Use the Cloud filter to show one provider's budgets.
Budget cards
Budgets are grouped by state:

| Looks like tests | Budget amounts 5× or more below spend every period. Usually leftovers from testing. |
Each card shows the name, state and percentage (such as Exceeded · 170%), the cloud and scope, the period, spend against budget with a progress bar and threshold markers, the amount over or left, and how many thresholds and recipients it has.
Card actions

Select Delete all… in the Looks like tests group to remove test budgets in one go.
Create a budget
Start
Select New budget at the top right.
Choose the cloud
Pick AWS, GCP, Azure, or Oracle.
Add filters (optional)
Narrow the scope with provider dimensions, such as AWS · Service and AWS · Account. Leave a field empty to include all values, or enter values separated by commas.
Set the period and amount
Choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly, then enter the budget amount per period in your reporting currency.
Set thresholds
Alerts fire when actual cost passes each threshold, expressed as a percentage of the budget. The defaults are 80% and 100%. Select + Threshold to add more, or × to remove one.
Choose who to notify
Type an email address or a #slack-channel and press ↵. Everyone listed is notified at every threshold.
Name it and create
OpsLyft suggests a name such as AWS · monthly · …. Change it if you like, then select Create budget.
The What it will do panel on the right summarises the budget as you build it: what it watches, the amount, the alert thresholds, and who it notifies (it warns you if that's nobody yet).
Budgets are evaluated by the OpsLyft budget service, the same one used in v1, so thresholds and timing are unchanged after migration. Thresholds are a share of the budget amount.
