30-day playbook

A week-by-week plan for your first month with OpsLyft.

This plan gets a new workspace from connected to saving money with owners. Each week builds on the last.

Week 1: See everything

Connect every provider

Start with your largest cloud, then add the rest: other clouds, Snowflake, Databricks, Kubernetes, OpenAI, and Anthropic. See Integrations.

Check freshness

Open the clouds picker in Cost Explorer and confirm each provider shows live or a small delay. See Data freshness.

Get the baseline

Ask Iris Brief me on spend over the last 30 days at High depth. Pin the answer to a new canvas called Baseline.

Invite the people who own spend

Share the workspace with team leads, platform engineers, and finance.

Week 2: Give every dollar an owner

Choose your owner tag

Pick the tag or mapping that says who owns a resource. See Tags and ownership.

Measure coverage

In Live inventory, read the Unallocated tile. In Cost Explorer, check the coverage bar for your owner tag.

Fix the biggest gaps

Sort untagged resources by cost and tag the top ones. Use Datasets for mappings you can't tag, such as account → team or chargeback overrides.

Map teams to Jira projects

In Tickets → Integrations, so findings go to the right place.

Week 3: Set guardrails

Create budgets

One budget per team or major account, with 80% and 100% thresholds, notifying the team's Slack channel. See Set budgets per team.

Route anomalies

Turn on High-severity anomalies → ticket. Assign every running anomaly an owner.

Set up the weekly digest

Confirm the weekly digest goes to #finops.

Week 4: Start saving

Work the quick wins

In Optimisation, select the Quick wins column. Assign each opportunity and open tickets.

Batch the housekeeping

Select Housekeeping and clean up unattached storage, idle gateways, and unused IPs in one pass.

Plan the big projects

Review Big projects and Commitments with owners and finance.

Report progress

Share your Baseline canvas with a new widget for Realised this quarter.
