OpsLyft reads Databricks cost from the Unity Catalog system tables in system.billing. It takes about three minutes, and OpsLyft starts reading usage the same day.
Before you begin
- Your workspace needs Unity Catalog.
- You need to be a metastore or account admin to enable system schemas and grant access.
Connect Databricks
Enable the billing system schema
Enable the system.billing schema for your metastore, if it isn't already.
Grant SELECT to OpsLyft
Grant SELECT on the billing tables to the OpsLyft principal shown on the connect screen.
Start reading
OpsLyft verifies access and starts reading usage the same day.
Read-only
OpsLyft can only read the system billing tables you grant. It can't read your data or run jobs.
What OpsLyft reads
DBU consumption by workspace, SKU, cluster, job, and warehouse, priced with your list prices. Anomalies on Databricks show the SKU behind the change, such as dbConsumptionUnit or Premium Serverless Realtime Inferencing DBU.
Azure Databricks
Azure Databricks charges also appear on your Azure bill. Connect both to see DBUs and the underlying compute.
