Connect Google Cloud by pointing OpsLyft at your detailed BigQuery billing export.
OpsLyft reads Google Cloud cost from your detailed usage cost export in BigQuery. You sign in with Google, choose the billing account and dataset, and OpsLyft creates a read-only service account for it. It takes about three minutes.
Before you begin
- Turn on the Detailed usage cost export to BigQuery in Billing → Billing export, if it isn't on already. Google only exports data from the day the export is turned on.
- You need access to the billing account and to the BigQuery dataset that holds the export.
Read-only
OpsLyft can see billing and usage data. It can't change, stop, or delete anything in your account.
Connect Google Cloud
Choose Google Cloud
In onboarding, or from Settings → Integrations, choose Google Cloud.
Sign in with Google
Select Sign in with Google and choose the billing account.
Select the export dataset
Choose the BigQuery dataset that holds the detailed export.
OpsLyft creates a service account
OpsLyft creates a read-only service account scoped to that dataset and starts reading.
Reporting dimensions
Google Cloud adds dimensions such as project, service, SKU, region, labels, and resource name. Committed use discounts (CUDs) appear as their own charges and are amortized in the Amortized cost type.
Troubleshooting
Google Cloud only writes billing data from the day the export is enabled. Older history isn't available from BigQuery.
Choose the detailed usage cost export. It includes resource-level data that OpsLyft needs for inventory and optimisation.
