Widget builder
Build a widget by hand in four steps, Source, Shape, Question, and Filters, with a live preview.
The widget builder opens when you choose Add widget → Build manually on a canvas, or Edit on an existing widget. The preview on the right is drawn from live data and updates as you change settings. Select Add to canvas (⌘ ↵) when you're done.
1. Source
Choose where the data comes from.

3. Question
Define what the widget measures.

| Clouds | Provider (all or a subset) and Cost type. Shows Mixed when providers use different cost types. See Cost types. |
| Group by | Up to 7 dimensions, in order. Select Add dimension to add one. |
| Rows shown | Top 5, top 10, and so on. The rest roll into Others. |
| Time grain | Day, Week, Month, or Quarter |
| Compare against | No comparison, or a previous period |
| Name | The widget title |
4. Filters
Optional. Rows must match all conditions in a set (and). Add or another set of conditions to match either set. Widget filters stack on top of the canvas filters, and the builder tells you when the canvas has none.
The live preview
The preview header describes the query in words, for example Grouped by Provider · per month · inheriting the canvas filters, and confirms it's Drawn from live data. Hover the chart to see values for each group and the total.
Lens
The Lens menu at the top of the builder changes the default grouping suggestions to match Finance, Engineering, or CXO. See Lenses.
